Description
The Marton Arms is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park in the picturesque hamlet of Thornton in Lonsdale, just a 10-minute walk from the village of Ingleton. We have a stunning sheltered beer garden overlooking open country views; plus, an outside terrace to enjoy lovely summer evenings with a refreshing drink. We stock a wide range of beers, wines and spirits…including over 60 gins!!!
We offer great value homemade food all day, with the accompaniment of restaurant dining in the evenings. We are very strong advocates of the ‘field to fork’ initiative. Our beef is reared in the foothills of Ingleborough by farming friends. The quality is exceptional and couldn’t be anymore more local! We are passionate and invested in every step of the animals’ life: from day one, through its happy and fulfilled life grazing in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, to the time it ultimately arrives in our kitchen. We take great pride in our locally sourced meat and the fact that we are able to provide 100% traceability. We know that the animal has lived a contented life and has been raised responsibly by people that share our passion for fine local produce and sustainable farming.
We have an extremely talented and dedicated kitchen team, led passionately by Sean, our head chef. When walking or driving around you will often see the term ‘homemade food’ written on advertising boards of pretty much every food establishment you pass! Here at the Marton Arms we don’t use this term flippantly. We say it because it defines who we are and what we believe in…
Absolutely every element of every dish is homemade, where at all possible…from hand rolled raviolis, to our legendary 3 peak burgers (Penyghent, Ingleborough & Whernside), through to our cheese scones for the daily soup.
Not only is the food homemade but the meat home butchered where possible too! Our multiskilled team gladly request the larger animals to arrive in as larger cuts as possible, allowing them to prepare and utilise every bit of the animal, the way they want too, in order to produce phenomenal flavours!
Specific dishes come accompanied with their very own homemade jus acquired from that specific meat. Once prepared all subsequent processes to both meat and fish are done in house, such as: brining, curing/salt curing and water bathing. An extraordinary amount of work and passion goes into our food.
Our enthusiasm for ‘field to fork’ doesn’t start and stop with meat and fish however. All elements of our menus are locally and sustainably sourced. Both the lunch and evening menus have a wide range of exciting vegetarian options. We are just passionate about great food. If the ingredients are good, they’re good! Our vegetarian dishes are extremely popular with everyone. If you are visiting the area you must try the Wensleydale & red onion Eccles cakes!
We warmly welcome walkers, cyclists, children and well-behaved dogs.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
