Bridlington Spa is the Yorkshire’s coast’s premier venue for meetings and events. Whether it is a meeting for two or an event for 3,800, Bridlington Spa can accommodate almost any activity from banquets, exhibitions, training events, parties or music concerts.
The current building, owned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, with it’s Art Deco Royal Hall has existed since July 1932. The building underwent a complete refurbishment, costing £20.5 million, which saw Bridlington Spa close on 6 January 2006 after the last performance of the pantomime Sleeping Beauty and reopened on 31 May 2008 with the Pigeon Detectives.
As well as hosting some of the biggest names in music such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Paul Weller, Oasis, Jessie J and Kaiser Chiefs, Bridlington Spa is now the exclusive home of the Yorkshire International Business Convention (YIBC). The venue has hosted the YIBC since 2008, alongside a sister event in Harrogate and latterly Leeds, but from 2013, Bridlington Spa will host exclusively, a sign of the organiser’s faith in Bridlington and the venue.
Following the refurbishment in 2008, Bridlington Spa now has a flexible range of function rooms that are set in breath taking surroundings with views overlooking sandy beaches, and the North Sea. The Royal Hall, which has a capacity of 3,800, the Edwardian two-tier theatre is in luxurious red and gold which seats 675 and the venue has complete presentation and performance facilities.
All rooms come with full technical facilities and the whole building is accessible to visitors with disabilities. Bridlington Spa’s in-house catering team, which includes a full time executive chef, sous chef and two chef de parties offer corporate entertaining and a bespoke hospitality services, whether it’s afternoon tea, buffets, banqueting or gourmet dining the on-site catering team allows for a fine dining experience.
Bridlington Spa also has a café and gallery allowing members of the public to enjoy a drink and bite to eat and at lunchtime an opportunity to relax and enjoy their refreshments whilst being entertained by the café pianist. The Gallery offers an exciting, easily accessible, contemporary display space for an eclectic mix of artwork, from photography to canvasses, oils, acrylics, watercolours and mixed media work.
This has been recognised with Bridlington Spa winning ‘Remarkable Conference Venue’ for the last two years at the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards, which it also hosted in 2011 and is shortlisted for the 2013 event. The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses across Hull and the East Riding. Most recently Bridlington Spa was highly commended by WRA in the ‘Business Tourism’ category at the White Rose Awards.
