The Tennants Arms Hotel is a traditional country inn with 10 luxury boutique hotel rooms in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beneath the impressive limestone rock face of Kilnsey Crag with spectacular views over the Wharfedale countryside.
Offering friendly Yorkshire hospitality, we are an independently run business serving locally sourced British produce with a good range of cask ales and fine wines. Providing a choice of Luxury, Premium, Double and Twin Bed options across 10 bedrooms and 2 function rooms, the Tennants is perfect for any occasion! Three of our rooms are also dog friendly.
The pub was once an important coaching stop on the busy route from Richmond to London and retains much of its authentic rustic charm. The sweeping River Wharfe runs through the National Park down a classic u-shaped glacial valley. Miles of drystone walls weave a course through the dale, creating a criss-crossed landscape across steep slopes with limestone scars and picturesque villages along the valley below.
Guests stay with us to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park with hiking, angling, cycling, mountain biking and pony trekking activities all starting from our doorstep. The hamlet of Kilnsey is perfectly located for enjoying the best of both the northern and southern dales; close to the market towns of Grassington, Skipton and the historic ruin of Bolton Abbey downstream and the tourist attractions of Aysgarth Falls, Castle Howard and Richmond over the tops to the north.
The ‘back road’ from Grassington to Kettlewell, passing through Conistone, is designated as a cycleway, and from time to time is used for internationally acclaimed cycle races.
For walking and hiking you will find no better area than Kilnsey and Conistone in Upper Wharfedale. Close to the Dales Way, Mastiles Lane, Scott Gate Lane and Bycliffe Road, you can set off with a guidebook from The Tennants in any direction and explore a myriad of footpaths and bridleways, both easy and challenging.
If you want to go fishing in Kilnsey and Conistone, our 2-night package Stay, Catch and Cook includes a half-day angling at the Kilnsey Park Estate, where there is rainbow trout fishing for adults and children all year round. In the evening, our Executive Chef will cook your own catch of up to two trout for your evening meal. Expert angling tuition can be arranged with three weeks advance notice for fly-fishing in season in the Rivers Wharfe and Skirfare for brown trout and grayling through Kilnsey Angling Club.
